All of my woodcarvings are done by hand only. I prefer to carve
the traditional way and not use motorized tools on my carvings.
Finished pieces are then hand sanded using from 80 to a 600 grit
sand paper, then burnished, (wood on wood). The Burnishing
brings the carvings to a furniture like smoothness.
My Cherry, Walnut, and Diamond Willow carvings are not stained.
These pieces are finished with Tongue Oil to preserve the natural
beauty of the wood.
I use wood stains only if the wood calls for it, such as with Oak or
Pine. These carvings are then sealed with varnish or lacquer.
"Mama and Fawn"
Beautiful hand carved deer and
her fawn. Original one of a kind
carving from cherry wood. Base
is coca bolo wood. Piece
measures 4 ½” tall. The base is
5 ½” long and 3” wide. Finished
to a silky smooth feel using
tongue oil showing the natural
color of the wood.

"Two Ponies"
Two little ponies carved from
buckeye and walnut. These
ponies stand 3 1/2" tall and
about 4 1/2" long from head to
the end of their tails. The
stand is of walnut and
measures just under 5" wide
and 4" deep, with felt added
to protect furniture. Both
were finished with tongue and
paste wax keeping their
original color unique to the
wood used.

wood and the base is Black Walnut,

wood. It is finished with several

paste wax to enhance the over all
look.
The piece stands 9 ½ inches high
from bottom of the base to the top
tip of the antlers.
